Following numerous request we received with regards to the sourcing of
Wader Decoys, we established a supply of Full Body
Decoys. We have used Wader and Wildfowl Decoys to good effect ourselves
with customer feedback showing the Birds of Prey and Passerines to be equally as
good..
The Decoys are made by SportPlast based in Italy as Shooting Decoys,
Bird Scares or Ornaments with some Greenhead Gear Decoys from the USA now
supplementing our range (See Item descriptions). The Wildfowl can generally be bought off the
shelf from the Importer. All other ranges, Waders in particular, will be
special order for us. This results in a lead time of 6-8 weeks for us.
To start with we will be holding a small stock of the Wader Range. We will
endeavour to maintain and accurate Stock Level Against the items we have in
Stock.
Please note that we do not have firm prices for all the Decoys yet and there may be a
minimum order quantity for some types of decoy. This will be addressed once
we get a feel for the market.

Comments : When we unpacked this decoy and put it in the garden to
photograph we were surprised at the response from Garden Birds. Birds
normally visited the Feeders and Table without a second thought. Not
with this decoy hung up. Upon passing over the Garden Fence they would
do an immediate "U" Turn. As soon as the decoy was removed from the
garden the other bird were back feeding. |

Comments : We have used this Decoy in Duck Traps when set for Starlings
and on the Bird Table Roof to attract live birds.
We have also found it to be a very useful Sacrificial
Decoy for Cats. Place the Decoy on the ground between the Feeding Area
in your garden and the cover cats use to pounce from. The cats take
the easy target, namely the decoy, and get a mouth full of plastic rather
than a live bird. |

in conjunction with a Tape Lure for carrying out Passage Roost Site Ringing
of Whimbrel. |

Note :
Following several years of
English Nature
monitoring a Passage Roost Site in the York Area a project was set up to
establish the importance of the Passage Staging Area near York. 2004
saw another collaboration with
English Nature, Huddleston &
Jackson Bird Ringing Partnership and some Volunteer Observers to Colour
Ringing and Radio Tracking Whimbrel. The poor weather played a big
part in the project and only 1 Bird was tagged. This however produced
enough data and questions to not only repeat the project in 2005, but
also see the RSPB come on board with a
Satellite Tag. To date 2007 saw 3 more Whimbrel
Radio Tracked and a further 3 Whimbrel Satellite Tagged. More than 30
Whimbrel now have colour rings to help identify individuals in the field.
